Charles Tompkins Jr. is the Senior Pastor at New Prairie View Baptist Church.  Pastor Tompkins is from the small town of Hempstead, Texas.  He graduated from Hempstead High School and is an Alumni of Prairie View A&M University. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineer Technology and a Masters of Education in Educational Administration.  While in Prairie View he met and married the love of his life Arthrayia Love and they are now the proud parent’s two children, Charley Love Tompkins and Charles Tompkins III.  They also have a family dog named Mr. Bentley.

Pastor Tompkins is a young enthusiastic, minister who is serious about his call into the ministry.  He has a passion for carefully unpacking the truths of Scripture.  His desire to preach the gospel was fostered by his father, Pastor Charles Tompkins Sr.  While under the leadership of his father at Salem House of Blessings in Navasota, Texas, he served as the Minister of Music and Associate Pastor.

In January 2011 God opened the door for him to lead the flock of New Prairie View Baptist Church in San Felipe, Texas.  He has implemented new, fresh ideas and ministries that have tremendously impacted the church membership and the community.  Not only is he involved with his church but with his community and surrounding areas as well.  He formerly served on City Council for the city of Hempstead, TX for 8 years.

In an effort to meet more of the need of our church and community, he decided to work on getting a degree from College of Biblical Studies. His desire is to develop a church that spreads the gospel and impacts the community. He is a strong leader, directed by God, who provides what is needed to help the church progress and grow. He is also dedicated to building a leadership team that is qualified to carry out our church mission.

His goal is to improve the current ministries we already have in our church and create new ministries that will help meet the needs of the community and church.  As senior Pastor, he leads by example.  He’s always eager to learn new and different things to build a membership that studies the word of God, applies it to their lives and lives it daily.
